Spice Drawer Organization

A neatly organized spice drawer —complete with uniform labels and matching jars — makes me so happy!

Step 1: Gather & Organize

Gather all your spices and decide what you are keeping. Also, check expiration dates and the bottles for freshness — so many of my spices were old and needed to be tossed.

Step 2: Measure & Line Your Drawer

Use a tape measure to figure out the width, depth and height of your drawer — this will help you determine which organization system will work best for you. There are tons of different options out there — so it depends on your own personal style and preference. I ended up going with this style; YouCopia Spice Drawer Liners.

(If you don't have a drawer for your spices, a cabinet pull out or upper cabinet will work great)

Step 3: Matching Bottles & Labels

Then it was time for uniform glass jars and matching labels... Believe me, I'm the first to admit that I'm a bit OCD, however, it looks so DAMN pretty now. I got circular jars, however, I just helped a friend with her drawer and she went with these 4oz square spice jars.

I'm a graphic designer, so ended up making my own labels, however, there are some companies out there that sell a super similar design; Minimalist Spice Jar Label Stickers.

Step 4: Finishing Touches

I arranged all our spices alphabetically so you can find them in a snap! My husband thought I was nuts for organizing them this way, however, he's now realized how quick they are to find! Not to mention, all the times I used to go and buy another spice only to find out I already had it.
